AECAP Professor Dr.Lisa Kay's Work To Be Published In Forthcoming Art therapy Book

Congratulations to Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Art Education and Community Arts Practices Professor Lisa Kay whose work is published in the forthcoming book, Art for Children Experiencing Psychological Trauma: A Guide for Educators and School-Based Professionals. This timely and groundbreaking resource is focuses on the relationship between art education and psychological trauma in youth populations. Dr. Kay, a board certified art therapist and art educator, contributed two solo chapters: Children Exposed to Trauma: Children in Crisis and Yellow Bricks: An Approach to Art Teaching. She also co-authored two chapters on understanding the potential for art Making for students experiencing psychological trauma and best practices in pre-service art teacher education and professional development.   Read More

Pepón Osorio Receives Distinguished Arts Award From Pennsylvania Governor

Congratulations to Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Art Education and Community Arts Practices Professor Pepón Osorio who received the Distinguished Arts Award from Pennsylvania’s Governor Tom Wolf. Osorio was honored as a Pennsylvania artist of international renown whose artwork and contributions enrich the state and beyond by the Governor and First Lady. Osorio creates large scale, multi-media, socially conscious art installations. He has worked on long term projects that address critical social issues in collaboration with more than 25 communities across the country and the world. Recently, he was in the Fairhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, where, with the help of the community, he relocated an classroom from a closed District of Philadelphia school, transforming it into a living art installation in the Tyler Community Arts classroom.
