Tyler Alumnua Featured in Solo Museum Exhibition

Tyler School of Art and Architecture alumna Lisa Yuskavage (BFA ’84) is featured in Lisa Yuskavage: Wilderness, currently on view at the Aspen Art Museum. The exhibition looks beyond the eroticism of the figure to the fantastical nature of Yuskavage’s landscapes. In a recent interview with The New York Times, Yuskavage reflects on her time at Tyler, in particular, recalling two moments that were indicators of her development: the creation of a painting entitled, “Once Transient,” and the sale of her first work. “I had a BFA thesis show… and it did extremely well,” said Yuskavage. “My dentist came and bought a big painting. I was kind of amazed.” Read More

Art History graduate students to participate in "Living Histories of Art from Latin America" workshop

The Department of Art History and Archaeology at the University of Maryland is pleased to announce Living Histories of Art from Latin America: A Workshop with Gerardo Mosquera, to be held on March 5-6, 2020.  Co-organized with the History of Art & Architecture Department at the University of Pittsburgh and the Department of Art History at Temple University, this workshop brings together advanced graduate students in the Middle Atlantic region who are studying modern and contemporary Latin American and Latinx art.   Read More

Tyler Alumnus Wins Major Glass Award

Tyler School of Art and Architecture alumnus in Glass, Nate Ricciuto (MFA ’15) has recently received the 2020 Saxe Emerging Artist Award from the Glass Art Society along with two other artists, Gracia Nash and Joshua Kerley. According to Dorthy Saxe, the philanthropist for whom the award is named, this distinguished award “gives young artists the opportunity to present their work at a conference…[and] gives [them] exposure… [P]eople would be well to attend and hear the revolutionary ideas of these young artists.”  Nate and the other award winners will present their work to a large audience of established artists, educators, peers, collectors, art historians and critics in Sweden later this year in May during the Annual Glass Art Society conference—a membership-based international non-profit organization that supports and encourages glass arts and artists.   Read More
