Tyler's Assistant Professor and Program Head of Art Education, Renee Jackson has recently published the article, "Chance Encounters as a Generative Mechanism in Art, Teaching and Research," in Volume 17, No. 1 of Canadian Art Teacher, published by the Canadian Society for Education through Art.
The article, co-authored by Jackson and nine Tyler graduate students, is a celebration of the chance encounter as a valuable source of inspiration and knowledge making. It tells the story, from conception to aftermath, of the Palimpsest Portrait Project—an arts-based research project that both emerged from such an encounter and begat further such encounters during Tyler's Contemporary Issues in Art Education class in 2017.
