Print Slam 2017 at Tyler Recap

Here are some photos of Prints Link Philadelphia’s “Print Slam” professional development event, hosted by Tyler School of Art and Architecture AECAP Department, PAEA Region 12, and Prints Link Philadelphia.  Founded in 2009, Prints Link Philadelphia is an open membership coalition of schools, community arts organizations, museums, art educators, and artists who promote printmaking to Pre-K through 12th grade students in the Greater Philadelphia region. This Print Slam event facilitated art educators to engage as artists with gelatin and trace monotypes printmaking media. These artist educators will bring what they have learned beyond this workshop to their students and classrooms. Read More

Here are some pictures from Sunday’s celebratory closing reception for Implicit Intersections!   This was an exhibition showcasing the studio art practices of the Graduate students of Tyler School of Art and Architecture's Art Education and Community Practices Department. Ver de lejos Exhibition Reception

Some pictures from last Friday’s Ver De Lejos/To See from Afar show! This gallery showed work from the Mann Older Adult Center bilingual painting course, led by Jamie Forslund. These artists explore themes of memory, heritage, and beauty by connecting their lives in Philadelphia with memories of growing up in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, etc. The reception featured several artists present talking about their process and experience, as well as Art Educator Jamie Forslund talking about her experience teaching in a bilingual community arts program. Forslund highlighted the differences between teaching older adults from teaching children and adolescents, as well as the inspiration for some of the projects in the exhibition.    Read More
