Architecture Student Receives 2024 Koenig Memorial Scholarship

Keecha Abie Kamara '26, an Architecture student at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, is the 2024 recipient of AIA Philadelphia's Matthew J. Koenig Memorial Scholarship. 

AIA Philadelphia wrote about Abie's selection on their announcement of the 2024 recipient: "Abie is driven by a passion to utilize architecture as a tool for community empowerment. Inspired by architects like Francis Kere and drawn to the impactful design of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Abie's coursework and extracurricular involvement reflect her commitment to understanding and leveraging architecture's potential. With a foundation in both technical knowledge and community engagement, Abie's dedication to creating meaningful architectural solutions for underserved communities makes her a deserving candidate for this scholarship."

The Matthew J. Koenig Memorial Scholarship was created by the AIA Philadelphia Golf Committee to honor Matthew J. Koenig's passion and commitment to bettering the profession of architecture. The annual scholarship is open to current undergraduate and graduate Architecture students at Temple University who identify as female, Black, Indigenous, person of color, and/or Latinx.
