Author: Zachary Vickers

Tyler School of Art and Architecture Associate Professor of Sculpture, Karyn Olivier, and alumna Barbara Chase-Riboud (BFA '57) are among the ten recipients of an Anonymous Was a Woman (AWAW) grant.

"I am so thrilled to be included in this year’s cohort of incredible artists selected for the Anonymous Was A Woman grant," Olivier said. "And I’m excited to be included this year with Tyler aluma Barbara Chase-Riboud. This award will definitely impact my art practice, moving me one step closer to my goal of building a new studio."

The AWAW grants are made to woman-identifying artists over the age of forty who have made significant contributions in their respective fields and who continue to make crucial work. Established in 1996 by artist Susan Unterberg, and in response to the decision of the National Endowment of the Arts to cease support of individual artists, AWAW, to date, has has awarded over $6 million to 250 artists.
