2025 MFA Thesis Exhibitions: Rewoven Collective Stories
The Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University opens its 2025 MFA Thesis Exhibitions (February 26 - April 26) with a eight-week series of concurrent solo shows by 29 second-year Master of Fine Arts students.
Spanning a range of artistic disciplines, these exhibitions start to uncover the interconnectedness of materials, identity, and place, reflecting on the cycles of transformation that shape personal and collective experiences. From immersive installations, interactive and UX/UI design, to printmaking and sculpture, the artists explore themes of memory, ecological awareness, societal structures, and emotional health.
Collectively, these exhibitions invite viewers to engage with the complexities of contemporary existence, challenging familiar narratives and highlighting the tensions between tradition and reinvention. Each artist brings a unique perspective, whether through the transformation of everyday objects, explorations of cultural motifs, or the reinterpretation of industrial materials, to uncover hidden layers that extend beyond the gallery walls.
When they graduate, Tyler’s MFA Class of 2024 will join a community of distinguished alumni that includes Moe Brooker (MFA ’72); Syd Carpenter (MFA ’76), Edgar Heap of Birds (MFA ’79); Harriete Estel Berman (MFA ’80); Virgil Marti (MFA ’90); Anoka Faruqee (MFA ’97); Trenton Doyle Hancock (MFA ’00); Will Villalongo (MFA ’01); Erin Riley (MFA ’09); Amber Cowan (MFA ’11), Sijia Chen (MFA '11), Kara Springer (MFA ’17), Warith Taha (MFA ’20), and Isaac Scott (MFA '21), among others.
