Tyler Glass alumnus builds “House of Learning” at local synagogue

Eight decades after his grandfather fled Nazi Germany and his family’s beloved synagogue was destroyed during the terrors of Kristallnacht, Tyler Glass alumnus Dan Ostrov (MFA ’08) has helped construct a suite of new, one-of-a-kind furniture for the Beit Midrash, or “house of learning,” at Kohelet Yeshiva, a Modern Orthodox K-12 school near Philadelphia in Merion Station, Pennsylvania.  Read More

The Department of Art History of Tyler School of Art and Architecture invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate rank in the specialization of the arts and archaeology of the ancient Mediterranean and Near East (ca. 3000 BCE-100 BCE), to complement areas already represented by faculty in the department. We are especially interested in candidates who are working on projects in the digital humanities, who could provide our students with methodological innovation and who are engaged in collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches to the archaeology, art and architecture of the region. Tyler students take first place in Design and Build competition

A rendering of Tyler’s winning project, entitled "Recycle Generate Build," which utilizes shipping containers to create a pop-up makerspace that promotes sustainability. A team of Architecture students from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture have won the Museum of Outdoor Arts’ (MOA) inaugural collegiate design competition, as part of their Design and Build arts education program.  Read More

Tyler alumni and faculty featured in an exhibition of visionary Philadelphia craft artists from the last 70 years

From October 9–November 10, 2019, numerous alumni as well as current and former faculty of the Tyler School of Art and Architecture will be featured in a monumental exhibition, Philadelphia: Then and Now 1950–2019, presenting works from more than 50 Philadelphia-based craft artists from the last seven decades.Bertrand Productions, in collaboration with Helen Drutt (BFA '52), Matthew Drutt and Globe Dye Works, will include 14 emerging and mid-career artists as well as more than 40 historic works in various craft media by artists celebrated in their field.
