Byron Wolfe, Photography, talks at the UCLA John Muir Symposium and at the National Science Academy

Byron Wolfe, Program Director for Photography at Tyler, will be presenting at UCLA as part of a symposium titled A Century Beyond Muir  on Thursday, November 13. The talk will be based on recently published work titled "Some Version of the Same River" found in BOOM: A California Journal. Wolfe’s photographs and the accompanying essay by poet and philosopher Troy Jollimore respond to some iconic 1914 imagery of Ishi “the last Yahi" from Northern California.   Read More

Joshua Hopkins, 2013 Tyler BFA photography graduate, is passionate about lenses and optics. He often leaves fascinating diagrams on the classroom whiteboards after an evening explaining optics to students. Dimitra Ermeidou Wins Dave Bown Projects Grand Prize

Peripheral views from the Parthenon, bearing Aristotle’s definitions of democracy in his “Politics” written through the code of punch cards. When Dimitra Ermeidou (MFA Photography '13) first received the email informing her that she was a winner in Dave Bown Projects 7th Semiannual Competition, she did not realize that she had won the $5,000 Grand Prize. "I was really surprised and happy, and then I realized that I was the grand prize winner and that was really crazy," Ermeidou said. "I just felt that this was very satisfying. That my efforts go somewhere, that there's a response, there's feedback, and that feedback is great." Read More
