    Luke Green (BArch '21, MArch '23) Receives AIA Pennsylvania Architectural Excellence Student Achievement Award

    Luke Green (BArch ‘21, MArch ‘23) has been selected as Temple’s recipient of AIA Pennsylvania’s Architectural Excellence Student Achievement Award. The award highlights one student per accredited school for their exceptional scholastic achievement and future promise, and their readiness to take on the challenges and responsibilities of the work required in the field of architecture. Other accredited Pennsylvania universities participating include Carnegie Mellon, Drexel, Jefferson, Marywood, Penn State, and the University of Pennsylvania.  Read More

    Architecture Students Host Juried Exhibition in Stella Elkins Tyler Gallery

    The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) chapter at Temple University is hosting a juried exhibition of drawings and posters ranging from freshman through graduate levels of Tyler's architecture program, organized by AIAS President Ranzen Ocampo (BArch ‘23) and faculty advisor Chris McAdams, Assistant Professor of Instruction. Work will be on display in the Stella Elkins Tyler Gallery from October 3 through October 22.  Read More

    Tyler Welcomes Five New AED Faculty Members

    This fall, Tyler’s Architecture and Environmental Design department welcomes three new full-time faculty members: Assistant Professor of Architecture Jeffrey Nesbit, Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture Nathan Heavers, and Assistant Professor of Instruction in Planning and Community Development Ryan Devlin. Each brings a unique set of skills and knowledge, ranging from informal urban spaces to infrastructure to forest management.     Samara Weaver (BArch '11, MArch '13) Exhibits Naturalistic Artwork at Delaware's Mezzanine Gallery

    Samara Weaver (BArch ‘11, MArch ‘13) has always been drawn to buildings, spaces, and the emotions they can evoke. She ties her early love of architecture to a childhood memory of Philadelphia’s grand, neoclassical 30th Street Station.  When deciding on her education, Weaver chose to obtain both an undergraduate and graduate degree in architecture rather than the fine arts due to her search for a more “structured job market,” she recently told Art Watch Podcast.   Read More

    Advanced Graduate Practice Studio Offers Real-World Design Engagement

    This spring, the Advanced Graduate Practice Studio, led by Assistant Professor of Instruction Jeff Richards, RA, coordinated with the firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson for the speculative design of an "active learning center" at the Woodlynde School, a private school in suburban Philadelphia, with a specific focus on the construction typology of mass timber. The purpose of the course was to give students the opportunity to see how many voices go into a real design process, as well as hands-on guidance from a professional firm.   Read More
