Tyler alumnus selected for campus mural project as part of Temple’s commitment to the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals

Read the entire story here.Tyler School of Art and Architecture alumnus Mat Tomezsko (TYL ’09), an accomplished muralist who has created a variety of community art projects, has been selected to produce a mural as part of Temple University’s commitment to the U.N.’s invitation to World Heritage Cities to create artwork depicting one of their 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These goals include no poverty, zero hunger, affordable and clean energy, and reducing inequalities—the latter selected by Temple as it aligns with Russell Conwell’s purpose when he established Temple.  Read More

Tyler Horticulture Grad Student Earns Katharine M. Grosscup Scholarship

Alyssa Hannigan, Tyler School of Art and Architecture Horticulture graduate student, has received The Garden Club of America’s (GCA) Katharine M. Grosscup Scholarships in Horticulture, which celebrates friendship and the love of gardening within the GCA.“I'm honored to receive this scholarship because it will help fund my education towards a master's in landscape architecture,” said Hannigan. “I've always had a great admiration for the natural world and plants, so receiving this award from the Garden Club of America is confirmation that I'm headed in the right direction.” Read More

2021 Glass Art Society Conference Features Tyler Community and Honors Two Alumni with Emerging Artist Prize

When adjunct professor Leo Tecosky broadcasts live this week to a global community of glass artists from Tyler’s studio, his presentation will include hot glass sculpting, enamel work and engraved surfaces, and the poignant message: Black Lives Matter.Tecosky says, “Tyler is the best place to explore experimental glass work because the shop is great and the community is always ready to help out.” And he wanted his demo, which is inspired by graffiti, protest, and the Black Lives Matter movement, to resonate globally.
