Artist Statement

MeiLi Carling (they/them) is a designer, illustrator, and musician whose work addresses issues of access, empathy, and intersectionality in the design world. Informed by a deep love for user research, MeiLi’s areas of speciality are user experience, branding, accessibility, and instructional design. Drawing on their background in fine art, music, and sex education, MeiLi’s work is interdisciplinary. Unifying themes include queer joy and grief, holistic health and healing, and multicultural perspectives. Everything in the built world is designed, and designers have the power to decide who our world is built for. MeiLi aims to wield this power thoughtfully with every project they touch.
