Artist Statement

I’m always thinking of people and the places that we exist. The places that we occupy. Do these spaces, allow us to be our most authentic selves? How have our past experiences, memories, and current events affected how we see and navigate the world? My work is a person yearning to be seen. To be noticed. To be vulnerable and transparent. Searching through the complexities and aspects of the self and the other, I am utilizing personal and familiar experiences to talk about the complexities of “blackness” and what it means for me, for us, to be seen on our own terms.
